Color Club - Almost Famous

Today I have Color Club Almost Famous. This is a bright primary yellow.
This applied about like you would expect from a yellow creme.
Basecoat: Salon Sciences Fiberglass Network (2 coats)
Color: Color Club Almost Famous (3.5 coats)
Topcoat: Seche Vite (1 coat)

This was a little streaky but not horrible. The formula for this wasn't as nice as Color Club usually is - it was a bit thicker and a little more goopy. So, I had a little more trouble controlling it than I usually do with Color Club polishes. The last photo shows VNL but there is none visible in real life.

I am still playing with my nail length - I'm not sure how much I want to grow them. Tomorrow will be the second week of no filing. I used to wear my nails longer than this but I started wearing them much shorter right before I really got into polish. I think the breaking point is going to be either when they all start breaking, or I can't stand it anymore.

Color Club - Lava Lamp

Today I have Color Club Lava Lamp. This is a bright neon orange-red.
This is definitely a jelly finish, but it's not as sheer as some jellies. It looks nice and squishy on the nail.
Basecoat: Salon Sciencs Fiberglass Network (2 coats)
Color: Color Club Lava Lamp (4 coats)
Topcoat: Seche Vite (1 coat)

Application was good. Flowed nicely, tended to be a little runny, but not too bad. Cleanup - apparently harder than I thought, looking at the photo above! This is a hard one to capture accurately, too. I still have a little bit of VNL but I'm satisfied with the result.

Sinful - Happy Ending

Today I have Sinful Happy Ending. This is a medium green with gold shimmer.
In the bottle this looks pretty but not that special. I've had this for a while but I keep putting it back every time I pull it out. I should have worn it sooner. This is outside, in fading sunlight.
Basecoat: Salon Sciences Fiberglass Network (2 coats)
Color: Sinful Happy Ending (3 coats)
Topcoat: Seche Vite (1 coat)

This is a really pretty green. It reminds me a little of Zoya Midori, but I haven't worn Midori in forever so I couldn't say for sure. May try to compare them tomorrow, but I won't be home in time to catch any sunlight so I probably won't bother. I might do it this weekend, though. The gold shimmer is very pretty and even though the first two coats looked brush-stroke-y, the final product doesn't show brush strokes. I do have a little bit of NVL but only at certain angles - I'm probably the only one who will notice it.

I redid my pedi today, too, but there's already no sun on the ground for me take any photos. I used two coats of Milani Fresh Teal and two coats of Northern Lights silver holo topcoat. It's really, really pretty.

Comparison - Jessica Electric Teal, China Glaze Turned up Turquoise, Sinful Rise and Shine, China Glaze Custom Kicks

When I ordered Electric Teal I got it to round out my order of Yellow Flame. I didn't notice until I was holding it that it has shimmer to it, and I thought it might be similar to China Glaze Turned up Turquoise. When I was going through my Helmer to find TuT, I came across Sinful Rise and Shine and threw that in, too. I also threw in Custom Kicks.
In the bottle we can see already that Custom Kicks isn't really close, but I swatched it anyway. Everything else seems to be pretty close.
All of these are three coats, no topcoat. Index finger is Jessica Electric Teal, middle finger is China Glaze Turned up Turquoise, ring finger is Sinful Rise and Shine, pinky is Custom Kicks.

Everything but Custom Kicks is very, very close. The VNL in the photos doesn't show in real life. Here are the three close ones inside.
Electric Teal is the most saturated of the three, but it's still really, really close. Turned up Turquoise has more shimmer. Rise and Shine is a tiny bit dustier than the other two. Verdict: Only a true polish addict would notice the difference - I do. Otherwise, these three could all pass for each other, even though they aren't true dupes.

I also had a chance to take photos in the sun of yesterday's mani - Sinful Pink Glitter over Fusion Neon.

Sinful - Pink Glitter

Well, I'm pretty sure you can guess what this is from the name, hmm? This is Sinful Pink Glitter. I am layering it on top of yesterday's mani (Sinful Fusion Neon) because I am just lazy.
If you've seen Hottie or Nail Junkie, or I-forgot-what-the-orange-one-is-named, you've seen Pink Glitter. This is a super sheer pink jelly with pink glitter and larger, round holographic glitter. I had a heck of a time getting good nail photos of this - I wish I had a chance to take pictures during the day. If I still have this on this weekend I'll do it then.
This shows a little better the glitter in the bottle but doesn't do much for on the nail.

This is two coats of Pink Glitter and a coat of Seche Vite.... over everything I had on yesterday. It did tone down the neon-ness of Fusion Neon just a touch, but not really that noticeable.

Pink Glitter is jam-like in consistency, and that's OK, because it was really easy to control and get even glitter distribution. Sinful cremes are pretty terrible in their application, but they sure as heck can do a fantastic glitter, and this is definitely a winner.

Sinful - Fusion Neon

Today I have Sinful Fusion Neon. Fusion Neon is a bright neon pink.
Application on this sucked. All the problems of a Sinful creme with the added balding and streaking of a thin neon. But hey, I'm tired and I wanted something that would dry fast, so I can get some sleep tonight.

Basecoat: Gelous (1 coat)
Color: Sinful Fusion Neon (4 coats)
Topcoat: Out the Door (1 coat)

This color really screwed with my camera - it is a brighter pink in real life.

In other news, my Jessica order came in. I really wanted Yellow Flame, since I've heard it's an opaque neon yellow that doesn't need a white base. To round out my order and justify the shipping, I also picked up Pink Explosion and Electric Teal. I didn't know until I saw the bottle that Electric Teal has shimmer. Turned up Turquoise dupe? Maybe. I may compare them this weekend.

Essie - Haute as Hello

Today I have Essie Haute as Hello. I got this as part of a mini set - I was after Pretty Edgy, but my usual Ulta didn't have it in the full size. Of course, after I bought this I did find the full size bottle and bought it anyway.
Haute as Hello is a bright pastel orange. Very hard to describe color. On some blogs this looks neon, but it just looks like a bright pastel on me.

Basecoat: Salon Sciences Fiberglass Network (2 coats - my nails are a little longer than usual right now, so I want to be careful while I decide whether to grow them or not)
Color: Essie Haute as Hello (3.5 coats)
Topcoat: Out the Door (1 coat)

Application was typical for an Essie. Nice formula, but prone to streakiness. I still actually have a tiny bit of VNL, but I'm the only one who notices it.

All that said, I really love this color. It's a nice bright summer color without being eye-searingly neon. I do love an eye-searing neon, but sometimes I want to tone it down some. I think I am going to buying the full size bottle of this.
